Student Experiences & Learning
We work to foster foundational leadership skills through intentional and systematic learning with students. With a focus on experiential pedagogy, we integrate learning across disciplines and go beyond the traditional classroom practices. Using a collaborative approach, we are able to connect students with peers around the world through virtual and in-person exchanges.
Our award winning curricular innovation has allowed students to learn and connect with students from Indonesia, Spain, United Kingdom, Kenya, Brazil, South Africa, Chile, Mexico, and Canada. We also partner with Chicagoland businesses to enrich student learning both inside and outside the classroom.

Featured Student Work

AIM2Flourish Project
A part of our hands-on learning approach, students have the opportunity to interview local business leaders through the AIM2Flourish global platform. These stories highlight sustainable, ethical innovations and are written by students as part of their coursework. Several Dominican University student stories have been recognized as Flourish Prize finalists and winners, a testament to the depth of their research and the real-world connections they make.

Social Media Campaign: Learning to Lead Through Digital Storytelling
Through the Social Media Campaign project, students take on the challenge of designing and launching mission-driven digital content that inspires action and awareness. The hands-on experience helps them develop practical skills in strategic communication, creative storytelling and audience engagement, equipping them to lead with clarity and purpose in the digital world we live in today.

Podcast on Sustainability: Expert Interviews
Students collaborated to conduct a sustainability-focused post case interview with their assigned COIL sustainability expert via Zoom, after researching the interviewee and relevant UN SDGs and preparing structured questions. They practiced beforehand and then recorded a 15-25 minute interview led by selected team members. Following the interview, they edited the audio into an MP3, compiled a transcript PDF, and created a posted summarizing key insights and SDG connections.
